GREGGS, the national bakery chain, looks set to open a store next to Iceland in Melksham town centre.
Greggs have applied to refurbish the shop at 29-33 High Street, formerly Quinway beauty salon.
Currently, the closest branch of the chain – which has more outlets than McDonald’s does in the UK – is in Trowbridge.
Opening in Melksham would make it the newest eatery to join the town centre. Grounded cafe and bar opened in June and planning permission was given in January to open a cafe at the former Sue Ryder charity shop in High Street.
The application was put in to Wiltshire Council in July and a decision is expected by 19th September.
