Volunteers are needed to help get the town ready for Christmas and help out with planning the Christmas Market & Lights Switch On event, which is due to be held on Saturday 7th December.
Planning is now full speed ahead, with local stallholders and entertainers registering their interest. However, due to the ever-growing popularity of this event, the team behind organising the festivities is also looking for enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to join them and support the smooth running of the day.
The Melksham Christmas Lights Team will also be working their magic once again on the town centre lights displays, including the incredible town hall illuminations and Christmas tree. They will also oversee the decorating and running of Santa’s Grotto – along with Santa, Mrs Claus and the elves, of course.
The council’s communications officer, Sarah Askew, said, “The Melksham Town Council amenities team, officers and councillors will also be working hard in the run up to the event and throughout the day and they look forward to welcoming some new faces to the Christmas Market & Lights Switch On family.”
Potential volunteers can register their interest online using the links that can be found on the Melksham Town Council website and social media pages. “We are also still looking for local groups and clubs to perform on the day and a registration form for entertainers can also be found online,” said Sarah.
