THE Riverside Centre, an important community hub in Melksham, is calling on local residents to join its team of volunteers and contribute fresh ideas to help shape the centre’s future.
As a valued resource for the community, the Riverside Centre hopes to expand its services and activities and is looking for support from the community.
Located along the picturesque banks of the river Avon and near the King George V Playing Field, the centre has been a hub of social interaction, support, and engagement since it opened in 1970.
Now, after a recent major renovation, the centre is looking to build upon its existing successes and bring new energy to its operations. The centre is actively seeking enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about making a difference in their community to join its team of volunteers.
Anyone interested can go along to the Annual General Meeting on Thursday 22nd June at 7.00pm.
“The centre is a focal point of Melksham being in the town and close to the river and supermarkets,” said secretary Geoff Elwell.
“Many people will have hired it, many will have seen it but many may not know about it. The Riverside is a registered not for profit charity open to ALL age groups.
“It’s ideal for regular group meetings, private and social functions and has a capacity of 60 with wheelchair access and been recently fully refurbished.
“To remain a valuable venue for the community to hire we would welcome as many people as possible to attend our AGM on the 22nd and bring ideas with them for how the venue or the hiring can continue to be ‘The Best in Melksham’.
“By joining us as volunteers or sharing their ideas, residents can help us create a welcoming and active centre that meets the needs and aspirations of the Melksham community.”
