MELKSHAM Foodbank is appealing for help to fill their Christmas bags that will be sent out to their clients over the festive period.
The foodbank team say, “We are in need of Christmas cake, Christmas puddings, tins of custard, chocolates, boxes/tins of biscuits, Pringles, biscuits for cheese and mince pies.
“We would like to thank the people of Melksham and the surrounding villages, and all the businesses who have helped and supported us. We would especially like to thank all of our volunteers for all their help and support during the past year.
Items of food can be donated at local supermarkets – Asda, Co-op, Lidl, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose; Spa Road Service Station; Coventry Building Society; and any church in Melksham.
There is also time to take part in the foodbank’s ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’. This year, participants are being asked to collect the food items through December and then donate them in the new year, after 10th January.
“We find that donations traditionally go down during January so the food from the advent calendar really helps us to continue with helping local people with food.”

In addition to their work collecting food donations to deliver over the festive period, the volunteer team also served a three-course Christmas lunch on Sunday 12th December for around 90 people, clients and volunteers.
