Holt crafters are back this year with two big projects – a new Poppy Cascade for Remembrance 2025 and a 15ft Christmas tree made from colourful crocheted granny squares.
The group is busy re-creating and adding to last year’s spectacular Poppy Cascade, which saw more than 4,000 poppies draped from the tower of St Katharine’s Church and a further 3,000 displayed around the village.
They plan to follow this up with a 15ft hand-crafted Christmas tree made from granny squares which will be on show on Holt Village Green throughout December until the new year. Visitors will be able to donate via a QR code at the display.
In the run-up to Remembrance Day, handmade crocheted and knitted poppy brooches and clips will be sold at The Wild Herb café in the village to support the Royal British Legion. The crafters will also be selling festive decorations to raise extra funds for Dorothy House.
“If you missed our Poppy display last year this is a chance to see it cascading from St Katharine’s church tower and further displays throughout Holt village,” said the group.
Last year, the Poppy project, led by Holt resident Helen Gray, brought together more than 200 people, from lifelong knitters to complete beginners.
