The Melksham community will be celebrating the King’s Coronation in style with an exciting line-up of events.
There will be a special celebration Picnic in the Park on Saturday 6th May in King George V Playing Field with a live streaming of the Coronation on a massive screen, live music, a confetti battle, inflatables and fairground rides, fancy dress competition, crown making and refreshments.
And on the Sunday, Melksham Big Picnic will be held indoors at the Assembly Hall 12pm – 6pm with a special Coronation Big Picnic lunch to include King Charles III Coronation quiche, live music and entertainment and a tea dance.
Local pubs and restaurants are also celebrating in style with special menus, Coronation parties, live music and special screenings of the Coronation.
Not to be outdone, the villages of Semington and Seend are both hosting Coronation parties of their own.
As Melksham Town Council puts the finishing touches to plans for the town’s Picnic in the Park, the mayor, cllr Simon Crundell says, “We’re pulling out all the stops to make sure this is a day that Melksham will never forget.
“This is a day for our community to shine, and to show the world what makes Melksham such a wonderful place to live. So, bring your family and friends along, and let’s make this a day to remember. We can’t wait to see you there!”
