John Stuart Funeral Directors, based on Bank Street, have been announced as the main sponsor for this year’s Christmas lights.
John Stuart, which has been conducting funerals in Wiltshire for over 25 years has always played a part in local community activities. To celebrate the opening of their new branch in town, the team wanted to support a cause that touched the lives of all Melksham residents.
Unlike other towns and communities across the UK, Melksham’s Christmas lights only exist thanks to the enthusiasm of a dedicated group of local volunteers and are predominantly funded by the generosity of local residents and businesses.
Funeral arranger, Ashley McDonald said, “The Melksham Christmas lights truly demonstrate what a great community spirit Melksham has.
“Community is at the heart of everything we do, and there was no better way of getting involved than by sponsoring this year’s lights.”
A team from John Stuart will be on hand to meet and talk to Melksham residents at this year’s Christmas Fayre and light switch on, which is due to take place on Saturday 6th December.
Ashely continued, “Although sponsoring the Christmas lights is a great way to introduce us to the Melksham community, our responsibilities have always extended beyond funeral arranging and supporting people through difficult times.
“We’ll continue to support the town in whatever way we can throughout the year. Our premises are always open to local causes, whether they want to meet in one of our rooms or put up a poster in our window.”
