MELKSHAM Choral Society is looking for new members of all abilities.
The society said, “The festive season is at an end and we may feel down in the dumps or even depressed. It is a medical proven fact that singing lifts the spirits and is a better treatment than medication for general depression. It is also an excellent way to keep fit as singing improves a person’s breathing and therefore also improves their circulation.
“There is no downside to sitting and singing. Melksham Choral is looking for new members of all abilities. You do not have to read music and there is no audition. It is a case of join us and sit and sing.
“You may make excuses that you have never been a member of a choir before, well now is the time to try it out and another excuse may be that you could not sing the whole of the score. That is not a problem, practice makes perfect and regular attendance is the key to practice what you are taught and a full score will be soon within your grasp.
“We have the added advantage in that the Musical Director is a professional singer, so singing lessons are included as a norm. There are no restrictions to the range of music that we sing, jazz, modern as well as the beautiful classics of Handel and Brahms.
“If you would like to start the new year by learning a new and rewarding skill and making new friends, please join us.
“We meet every Thursday at the Rachel Fowler Centre at 7.30pm. The meetings start again on Thursday 10th January and you will receive a warm welcome.”
