A dinner which comprised of seven main dishes and four desserts from Thailand, were thoroughly enjoyed by 21 people on Tuesday evening 24th April, at The Art House Café in the Market Place Melksham.
Sue Ashcroft from The Rotary Club Eastern Seaboard, Pattaya, who attends both Rotary clubs and Janet Relfe from the Melksham Rotary Club, jointly prepared and cooked these dishes. This was followed by a visual presentation of the work Rotary clubs around the world are involved in, especially to eradicate polio. The Rotary club members in Pattaya are involved with projects, in particular water filters for the poor families in the north of Thailand that have no clean water. They also support orphanages, the elderly, and provide Christmas bags which are filled with goodies for the children. The profits from the sale of the tickets and donations from the evening will go towards these charities.
The Art House Café in Melksham is run by volunteers and the profits go towards supporting local community projects and is arranged by Melksham Rotary Club.
“We are always looking for either new Rotary members or volunteers to work in the café. The cafe is open Monday to Saturday 9.30am to 3pm, where you can enjoy a home-cooked meal, snacks, cake or just a cuppa.”
