A MELKSHAM councillor has successfully campaigned for the speed limit to be lowered on a residential estate.
A new 20mph limit is set to be implemented this month on Kenilworth Gardens, Longford Road and the surrounding estate between Semington Road and Spa Road.
Councillor Jon Hubbard has campaigned to make sure that the new limit is implemented.
“It’s hard to believe that this process has taken so long,” Jon commented.
“It almost didn’t happen at all after Wiltshire Council announced that the price for undertaking the signage and highways work has almost doubled, presumably as it was so long since they originally costed the job.
“Fortunately we have been able to overcome that hurdle and I am told that the limit should be in before Christmas.”
