A GLOWING parade of lanterns will make its way through Melksham town in December.
Lanterns of all sizes and shapes will be in the parade as it makes its way from the Assembly Hall to the Littlebrook Centre on Thursday 5th of December at 6.00pm.
Each of the lanterns will bear the emblem of a charity in a bid to raise awareness of the work that they do. Once the parade reaches the Littlebrook Centre, there will be Christmas carols and a chance to browse the Christmas market and shops that will be open until 8.00pm. Beth Dark, one of the organisers said, “This is not a fundraiser and we do not want people to have to donate money, unless they wish to. It is purely an awareness exercise so that we can support the causes which are close to our hearts.
“We hope this will bring us together as a community and we want to make this a regular event around the same time every year. There will be prize for the best overall lantern and this will be chosen by special guests who will be leading the parade.”
