Volunteers helping to save food from waste at Melksham Community Larder have been given new high-vis vests by the Lions Club.
The vests were donated by Melksham Lions to help raise awareness of the volunteers while they are out collecting and distributing surplus supplies.
Organiser of the larder, Adrienne Westbrook, said, “We are so thankful to Melksham Lions for providing our new high-visibility vests. Not only will they help people spot us as we collect food that would otherwise go to landfill, but they also shine a light on the spirit of community that keeps the larder going.
“Even after three years, many people don’t realise that anyone can come along to the larder; there are no referrals, no questions asked, and you can share in saving good food from waste. It’s about neighbours looking out for each other.”
Melksham Community Larder runs from the Round House in the Prince of Wales Garden at 2pm on Mondays and Fridays, and at 11am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, with an additional opening at The Forest Community Centre on Fridays from 11am to 12pm.
