THIRTEEN-year-old Laura Curtis from Shaw, had a successful golfing half-term week, winning the girls’ section at the Cumberwell Park junior open on Monday 29th May.
She followed this up by winning the Wiltshire County Girls U18 title at Ogbourne Downs Golf Club on Friday 2nd June and then after 90 holes of golf finished runner-up in the Ladies County Championships at Ogbourne on Sunday 4th June. Laura also helped her club, Cumberwell Park, win the Wiltshire County team shield.
Laura, who has been playing golf for four years, has a handicap of 7.2 and is now part of the South West England Girls under 16 regional squad.
She is a member at Cumberwell Park Golf Club and takes lessons from club professional Ben Lloyd.
Laura is now training hard in preparation for the UK Girls U18 Girls Championships at Littlestone in Kent and the UK Girls U14 Girls Championships at Blackmoor in Hampshire in August.
Laura is a student at Stonar School who are fully supportive of her golfing ambitions by allowing her time out to train and practise around her academic studies.
