A BIRTHDAY party will be held at Leekes to celebrate 25 years since the home department store opened in Melksham.
The event will take place this Saturday and Sunday, 16th and 17th September, with a host of entertainment and activities for the whole family. For the children there will an entertainer, face painting, fairground rides and a 25th birthday trail around the store. Shoppers can enjoy musical entertainment, refreshments, special offers and a chance to win a selection of prizes in the free prize draw. There will also be a special appearance from cllr Adrienne Westbrook, Mayor of Melksham, plus plenty of birthday cake!
The success of the store can in part be attributed to the enthusiastic and committed staff. Jon Miller, business unit manager who has been at the store since the opening, said, “I’ve been lucky enough to work here since the beginning and thinking back to when I started, it does not seem that long ago. There have been many highlights during my time at Leekes, notably welcoming stars such as George Best and Leslie Crowther.”
Dave Watson, store manager, said, “It’s fantastic to be hosting an event for such a significant milestone, particularly during the company’s 120th anniversary. Having opened in 1992, the Melksham store has continued to grow and is a great achievement for the staff, some of whom have been here since the beginning and also the local community, who we would like to thank for their continued support.”
