MELKSHAM & District Link recently held a lunchtime social event for all volunteers in recognition of their contribution and commitment to the organisation that thrives in the local community.
Volunteer Doreen Drew writes, “The event was a huge success with the opportunity for volunteers to meet and chat in a relaxed atmosphere.
“The event was organised and hosted by Richard Bell, a Link volunteer co-ordinator, and his wife Madeleine, willingly and cheerfully supported by two grandsons and a friend.
“Our very grateful thanks go to them all for their hard work, not only in providing the venue, but also the welcome received plus a wonderful variety of food to satisfy all comers.
“A wholly enjoyable experience – and the sun shone!
“Melksham Link has now been successfully running for over 21 years and is manned by a dedicated team of volunteers who generously give their valuable time.
“Our aim is to recruit more volunteer drivers and co-ordinators as our need is always ongoing, mainly due to natural loss. Like all voluntary organisations we have problems recruiting but without volunteers we cannot function.
“We would ask all those involved in LINK in any way, be it as volunteers or users of our services, to take every opportunity to encourage others to join.
“Everyone working for LINK is volunteering their time for the benefit of the community. If you think you may be able to help please ring our volunteer recruitment co-ordinator on 01225 340589.”
