A chatty cafe aiming to reduce isolation and loneliness is running at the Campus and is open to anyone who would like a friendly chat with others.
Set up by Melksham and Bradford-on-Avon Primary Care Network – comprising Gifford Surgery, Spa Medical Centre, and Bradford on Avon Health Centre – the sessions have no set agenda or specific topics.
Claire Gifford from Spa Medical Centre said, “They are all about facilitating opportunities for people, interaction and hopefully tackling loneliness at the same time.”
The Chatty Cafe scheme, which started in 2017, encourages conversations between people in public spaces such as cafés. It involves having a designated area, known as ‘Chatter & Natter’ tables, for customers who wish to engage in conversations with others.
Melksham’s Chatty Café runs every Tuesday from 10am to 12pm at the Poolside Café in the Community Campus and is open to everyone.
