The community gathered on a sunny Saturday for the grand reopening of Awdry Avenue play park, where local children had the chance to try out the new equipment.
The park reopened on Saturday 1st March, following a refurbishment that introduced a range of new features for children to enjoy, including a climbing wall, a basket swing and a slide.
Key representatives from the town were in attendance, including Melksham’s Mayor Tom Price and Deputy Mayor Saffi Rabey, to officially open the new park.
The refurbishment was funded by UK Shared Prosperity Fund and the Community Conversations initiative, which provides funding for local projects.
Mayor Tom Price said, “It was an absolute pleasure to be able to attend the opening of Awdry Avenue Park. This was a sorely needed upgrade to the Forest community after the previous park had outlived its lifespan. I want to express my thanks to Bridey from Community Conversations for all her support in making this park a reality. I hope the residents of Forest can enjoy the park in some sunny weather!”
