A LOCAL girl has raised £135 for Wiltshire Air Ambulance with a bake sale at her grandmother’s home in Savernake Avenue.
Six-year-old Erin Trowbridge said she was inspired to help Wiltshire Air Ambulance after the charity visited her school.
Erin’s grandmother, Lesley Rose, said, “She was so impressed she asked me to help her do a cupcake stall outside my house. She came over and we made cupcakes together and she managed after five hours to collect £135 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance. She insisted on staying outside until every last cake was sold. The local people of Savernake Avenue were very supportive.”
Erin said, “I loved cooking cakes with granny and selling them outside, it was lots of fun. I want to do a cupcake stall or maybe a craft stall next.”
To hand over the funds raised, Erin visited Wiltshire Air Ambulance on Thursday 31st August where she met members of the team.
A spokesperson for the charity said, “Wiltshire Air Ambulance is a charity and needs to raise £4million a year to continue flying and saving lives. We receive no regular direct government funding or National Lottery grants, so rely on general donations, such as this one from Erin, to keep our lifesaving service operational.”
