A NEW Melksham-based charity is getting ready to open up on the High Street in the shop formerly owned by Upper Cut Clothing.
Harmony, a new organisation looking to help local young people get into music, will be opening a charity shop at 24 High Street to help fund its vision.
The shop opens to the public at 9am on Monday 12th September, and will sell clothes, toys, books and bric-a-brac for all ages. The charity’s offices will be upstairs in the same building.
A spokesperson for the charity, which was set up by a group of local people said, “Harmony is a newly-created charity for the benefit of Melksham children. We want to help under 19 year-olds learn about and enjoy music, and are hoping to do so by subsidising music lessons, helping pay for the loan of instruments, and eventually by putting on performances.
“This has only been a couple of months in the works so it has been a lot of hard work, but we’re really excited to get going and give something back to the Melksham community.
“Eternal thanks go to everyone who has helped get this moving and also to the landlord and Upper Cut Clothing.
“Please pop in to see what we have on offer, have a chat with our friendly staff and find out more about what Harmony is about.”
The shop will be open from 9am to 5pm from Monday to Saturday.
Harmony is encouraging local people to donate their secondhand items to the shop, and would like to hear from anyone looking to offer their time to volunteer for the local charity.
