A LOCAL man is warning people about how a change in planning laws, which they may not be aware of, could affect them.
Graham Pitney from Whitley strongly objects to a planning application submitted for the house next to his, but a change in the planning laws that relaxes the rules means his neighbour’s application does not need council planning approval, so his objections are pointless.
Graham said, “I strongly object to the proposed extension because it will severly block the sun coming into my lounge and conservatory and impose on my privacy.
“But apparently my objections are pointless as Wiltshire Council can’t object to the plans because the extension is under a specific size.
“I’m furious that I have wasted so much time putting in the objections, to only find out recently that there’s nothing I can do.
“If people know the system they can get around planning laws because now they are so lax. For those who object, there’s no right to appeal any decision which is wrong.
“I’m warning people about the loop holes in planning laws because I wouldn’t want them to waste their time fighting a losing battle. Find out the details before you waste your time objecting.”
