Two local women will be lacing up their running shoes on 16th April to participate in the Newport Marathon to raise funds for Age UK Wiltshire.
Sarah Cardy, Age UK Wiltshire’s CEO, and Linda Roberts, Melksham Town Council clerk, are keen runners and have been training for the marathon for several months. Passionate about promoting the importance of staying active and fit in later life, they hope that their participation in the marathon will inspire others as well as raise money for the local charity.
Age UK Wiltshire provides vital support and services to older people, including Fitness and Friendship Clubs, advice, befriending, and more. The charity’s mission is to help older people live independent, fulfilling lives that they love, and the funds raised from the marathon will help to support this important work.
Sarah said, “I am thrilled to be running the Newport Marathon to raise funds for Age UK Wiltshire; Linda and I are lucky enough to be fit and healthy in later life and enjoy training between work and having fun with our grandchildren.
“We want to ensure other people can live their best life too, and by raising funds for Age UK Wiltshire, we know the impact the services, clubs and support can have on health and wellbeing. If you can help us support this great cause by donating, please do!”
Linda said, “We have been training hard for this marathon and can’t wait for Sunday 16th April. Running together, we can help to raise vital funds for the charity and highlight the importance of the great work Age UK Wiltshire do in the community. We are grateful for the support received and look forward to crossing that finish line!”
