LOCAL woman, Mary-Ann Pickett, has completed her sponsored walk for the Royal United Hospital in Bath.
Mary-Ann took part in the annual RUH Forever Friends Walk of Life, walking 26.2 miles across three days along the Kennet and Avon Canal in memory of her brother-in-law.
“I am really pleased to say that I managed to complete the RUH Forever Friends Walk of Life,” said Mary-Ann. “Following medical advice, I did have to switch to the new version of the walk because of a recurring back injury. My walk was completed over three days.
“The charity had introduced this new version, which has the advantage of decreasing the number of people on the canal at any one time. It also helps many more people who couldn’t otherwise take part or cope with the distance in one day, so the walk may be completed and logged at any time during the month of September.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have generously sponsored me.
“The charity’s latest figures show 233 walkers, 748 donors raising £21,000 so far. Donations can still be made and anyone using the RUH may benefit in some way.
