The Melksham and District Historical Association’s (MDHA) final talk of the year was titled ‘Atworth – From the Romans to the Third Millennium’ and presented by Gervase O’Donohoe.
Over 70 people attended the talk, including 35 visitors, who gathered to listen to 2,000 years of Atworth’s history in just over an hour.
The talk had been produced to celebrate Atworth History Group’s 50th anniversary last year and was thoroughly researched and well-delivered, much to the appreciation of the audience. Who knew how crucial Atworth was to the Battle of Britain?
Our annual general meeting is on Thursday 21st November, where the formalities of electing a new committee will take place. This is followed by a fish and chip supper at the cost of £8 per person, supplied by The Fisheries, concluding with musical entertainment and a quiz.
Members can put themselves forward for the committee on the night, and while visitors are welcome to join us, they are unable to take part in the initial voting. The closing date for ordering food and payment is Thursday 14th November.
