The Big Pledge Beat the Clock eight-week activity challenge ended on Sunday 8th July with Melksham community being the most active across Wiltshire.
Around 10,000 people of all ages took part in Wiltshire Council’s 2018 challenge, undertaking a variety of physical activities as they completed their timed challenges. Participating in events like the Big Pledge and regular physical activity has a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of those who take part. Of the 18 community areas in Wiltshire, Melksham participants contributed more than 1.68 million active minutes, which was the highest by any community.
Rhys Schell, Melksham community engagement manager for Wiltshire Council said, “Melksham residents have yet again fully embraced the activity challenge and it was fantastic to have so many individuals, clubs, councils and schools involved.
“A special thanks and well done has to go to our local schools who always participate in the Big Pledge Challenge and have shown through their recent Healthy Schools attainment, and other work they do, how committed they are to the positive wellbeing of local children.”
