MELKSHAM Carnival Royalty have been out in the town supporting the local community.
Beth Dark the royalty chaperone said, “We were given a very warm welcome and had a fabulous evening playing bingo at a fundraiser for the Enigma Baton twirling team at the Liberal Club.
“On Sunday we were part of ‘operation spruce up Littlebrook’ as part of the town tidy initiative. We cleaned, tidied and painted walls and wood on the businesses and courtyard area.”
The newest member of the Carnival committee, Michelle Brightwell said, “We had a great time out in the fresh air getting covered in paint.
“I am in awe of this year’s royalty who gave up their weekend to not only support these events, but to literally roll up their sleeves to give something back to their town. This event was great fun for everyone and we plan to do a lot more in the town.”
Alongside the success of these events, the committee is busy preparing this year’s Carnival programme and is urging local businesses to support the town event by taking up advertising space.
The programme will be on sale in locations spread throughout the town and features Grace Povey’s winning design for the front cover.
