MELKSHAM played at home last week against Royal Wootton Bassett.
After winning the toss, Melksham chose to bat and looked to put a match winning total up to get back to winning ways after last weeks loss.
The away teams innings got off to a rocky start however as both openers departed cheaply, leaving the Melksham middle order to dig in. Matt Hunt and Joe Veacock obliged as they rebuilt the innings, once they had were out however, for 26 and 71 respectively, it was left to captain Rich Hemmings to boost Melksham’s total with a quick-fire 48.
Melksham were all out for a competitive score of 190 from 39 overs.
Wootton Bassett’s openers were solid in their chase as the Melksham bowlers toiled without much success with Irshad (42) and Vincent’s (69) hard work being backed up by Smith Snr. (39).
A late flurry of wickets (Jack Footner with 3 wickets) gave Melksham a glimmer of hope but Bassett’s top order had done enough and the game was out of reach for Melksham who fell to back to back losses.
