ORGANISERS of Melksham Comic-Con have announced they will not be holding the convention this year, but will return in July 2018.
The hugely successful event has been running for five years in the town and draws hundreds of comic fans from across the country.
Traditionally, the convention has been held over the August bank holiday weekend but next year the event will take place on the 7th and 8th July.
The Melksham Comic-Con team known as, The Brians said, “After much discussion, Melksham Comic-Con will be going on hiatus for 2017.
“Our amazing team of volunteers have successfully executed five years of independent comic book conventions in Melksham, and they need a bit of a break!
“Fear not though, as we will be returning with a brand new date – be sure to join us on the weekend of 7th and 8th July 2018!
“We’re also still running our now famous fundraisers throughout 2017 – Quiz and Pudding Night and 1943 Stark Expo – Welcoming our US Allies to UK Shores!
“By taking a break we can build up our funds to bring you a stronger show in 2018 – as well as allowing our team to focus on their personal lives – please wish them luck as there will be two new babies born to the team, a wedding and our youngest volunteer moves up to secondary school, among many other events!
“So now we’ve told you that, it doesn’t really sound like we’re taking much of a break, does it?
“We hope that you will continue to support us through next year, and be sure to put Melksham Comic-Con 2018 in your diary now!”
