In a slight change to our programme this month, we decided to show some of the items we hold on behalf of the people of Melksham. Over 80 people attended, including 22 visitors.
Displays included fire, education, WW2, RAF Melksham, medicine, Forest Chapel and Spencer’s. As well as a table of maps, personal recollections and research. Larger objects graced the stage. Sadly, the Spencer’s Clock couldn’t make the meeting.
The informal setting and bar allowed for a pleasant evening allowing people to share memories, and personally it was great to chat to many faces who don’t normally attend our meetings.
Our next event is Thursday 20th July where a coach will depart from King Street Car Park at 9:10am to take those who have bought tickets to Bishops Lydeard to join the West Somerset Railway on a return steam railway ride to Minehead. All tickets have been allocated bar one at time of writing.
For those interested in a Museum for Melksham, there is still time to complete the online survey below which will close at the end of the month. https://s.surveyplanet.com/z6za7mr8
Remember, guests are welcome to all our functions at a fee of £3 a session.
