The Association commenced 2015 with ‘The Peter Brown Memorial Slide Show Presentation’ using slides from the Associations collection entitled‘Melksham Today And Yesteryear’ presented by Tony Fivash.
This was dedicated to our past and late President whose wife and family were present. The slides chosen showed buildings now and also what they looked like or what was in that location maybe 20, 50, or 100 years ago. Beautiful houses, for example Place House, The Chestnuts, Martigny House and Lowbourne House to name a few. Also factories and businesses that are no longer in existence. Many a voice was heard to say ‘I can remember when it was like that’ bringing back many happy memories. The approximately 100 members and visitors I am sure will agree that it was a very enjoyable meeting.
The next meeting is on Thursday February 19th at 7.30pm in the Assembly Hall entitled ‘West Kennet Long Barrow’ – an illustrated lecture by Peter Knight. Visitors are welcome – £3 per meeting or why not become a member.
