FOR a second year, the Family of Churches will have a presence at the Food & River Festival in King George V Park on Sunday 3rd September.
Alan McFall, chairman of Melksham Family of Churches said, “On this occasion our presence will take the form of a mini-Messy Church in the marquee kindly loaned to us by Queensway Chapel.
“Children of primary school age, bringing a parent or carer with them, will be very welcome to stop with us for a while and take part in some craft activities with a broadly “Harvest Thanksgiving” theme. We will be acknowledging that our food and water is provided to us through the natural world at the instigation of Almighty God.
“This will also serve as a reminder to families that Messy Church is now established on a monthly basis at Forest & Sandridge School, on the 4th Sunday of each month commencing at 4.00pm.
“In the park, we will not be serving meals as we normally would on a Sunday at the school, but there will be light refreshments of the home-made variety, washed down with fruit squash.
“To provide a flavour of the Messy Church Celebration Time, the Bless Melksham Choir and musicians will sing some songs during the afternoon in keeping with the theme.
“Come along and say “hello” – you will be very welcome and, so long as the rain holds off, no-one should get terribly messy!
“PS to members of churches wishing to contribute some home-made tray-bakes (avoiding nuts, please) may bring them along in the morning or very early in the afternoon. We will be on-site from 10.00am.”
