THE awards for this year’s Melksham in Bloom competition were handed out during a presentation at The Assembly Hall on Sunday 9th September.
Mayor of Melksham, cllr Adrienne Westbrook, presented the awards, with Trevor and Jeanette Jones of Church Walk winning the Sheila Wilkinson Cup for best overall garden.
Lorraine McRandle, committee administrator said, “The competition was once again sponsored by Leekes and Whitehall Garden Centre who provided gift vouchers as prizes, which was very much appreciated.
“Also, a huge thank you to Linda DeSantiz for taking photos of the winning gardens, which were presented at the show and for taking photos of the prize-giving ceremony.”
The winners of Melksham in Bloom 2018 are: Best Overall Garden, Trevor and Jeanette Jones. Large Front Garden, Bruce Petty. Small Front Garden, Mr and Mrs Sandford. Large Rear Garden, Bruce Petty. Small Rear Garden, David Walker joint with Liz and Mark Elford. Best single tub/container (domestic), Mr and Mrs Jones. Best single hanging basket (domestic), Mr and Mrs Jones. Best Water Feature, David Walker.
Best Floral Frontage, Mr and Mrs Jones. Best Innovative Design, Mr and Mrs Jones. Wildlife Friendly Garden, Valerie and Robert Dickenson.
Best Horticultural Display (School), Best Wildlife Friendly Garden (School), Best Environmentally Friendly Garden (School) all won by Shaw School.
Best Decorated Site (residential Housing for over 60s) and Best Hanging Basket/ Trough/Planter (Residential Hosing for over 60s) both won by Wharf Court.
Best Street, Church Walk. Best Allotment, Stu Wakely (Plot 7 Addison Road).
