MELKSHAM Lions president, Keith Mead, has presented three Lions members with one of the most prestigious awards that can be received by Lions club members.
The Melvin Jones Fellowship (MJK) award is given out to a member by fellow club members in recognition of their outstanding service to both the Lions club and the local community.
Keith Mead said, “It was my pleasure to present two of the three awards at our Christmas dinner; these being to Simon White who is a Charter member of Melksham Lions Club who has served the club for over 44 years. During this time , he has been president eight times and is currently chair of our activities committee. Secondly, Jim Whyborn who has been a Lion for over 14 years, with the last seven being with Melksham Lions Club. During his time with Melksham Lions he was president for two years and is currently chair of our welfare committee.
“I then presented the third and final Melvin Jones Fellowship (MJF) Award at our recent meeting to Cliff Terrell, a member of Melksham Lions Club for over 37 years. During this time he was president for a year – but most significantly treasurer for 27 years.”
Melksham Lions have now been serving our community for just on 45 years – 44 of those as a chartered club.
