A Melksham man has said he can no longer take his daughter to the basketball courts at his local park due to them being covered in broken glass.
David Jones from Queensway, Melksham said that in the past he was able to pick up the glass in King George V Playing Fields but now it has reached such an extent that this is no longer possible.
He said, “In the past there was just glass on a small part of the basketball courts but now it is over the whole length. Bottles have been smashed and smashed into tiny pieces so they are impossible to pick up. I can no longer take my daughter down there in case she falls over. It’s a sad situation.
“I contacted Wiltshire Council five or six years ago about it but nothing ever happened and now it is the worst it’s been in years.
“Additionally, the amount of rubbish in the area is terrible. I picked up 22 cans from town to my house and more glass bottles have been smashed. Something should be done.”
