NEW building work at Melksham Oak Community School is well on schedule to be open for the start of the new school year in September next year.
The school says that despite initial delays due to the coronavirus, building work on their expansion is forging ahead.
The school reports, “To accommodate a growing demand for places, the Melksham secondary school is expanding its site with 10 new classrooms, which will provide up to 340 new spaces, and which will be fitted out with the latest technology. The new site, being built by Footprint Architects, will also include a dedicated new sixth form area with two science labs, a new common room, study area, and café.
Alan Henderson, principal at Melksham Oak said, “We are really excited about this fantastic new space at our school. We are especially looking forward to opening the new state-of-the-art sixth form area which will give our students a dedicated space for independent learning and socialising.
“The future at Melksham Oak is bright and I’d like to thank everyone involved in the building work for their outstanding progress, especially considering the unusual circumstances in which they are working.”
