MELKSHAM Oak Community School has received national recognition for achieving some of the fastest improving GCSE results in the country.
The recognition comes from SSAT (The Schools Trust) and the school qualified as one of the top 20% of schools in England by improving its GCSE year on year from 2009-2012 by at least 17 percentage points.
Sue Williamson, chief executive of SSAT said, “Melksham Oak Community School should be congratulated for their stunning achievement in improving GCSE results.
“They have proved to be one of the best schools in the country at improving GCSE outcomes for their students. There is plenty that other schools could learn from Melksham Oak’s success.
“These results are testament to the commitment and hard work of the students, teachers and leadership team at Melksham Oak and a vindication of their high belief in high expectations, good teaching and ambition for every young person.”
Stephen Clark, headteacher at the school said, “This comes on the back of a year when Melksham Oak has been recognised as a good school by OFSTED within the new, more rigorous, inspection regime.
“We are so proud of our school and the progress that is being made by our students as we drive towards our ambition to be a great school.
“It’s the focus of our students, with the determination of all our staff and the support of our parents, which is having such a powerful impact as we journey toward this goal.”
