OVER the last two weeks, we’ve been focussing on a lot of community engagement, particularly with our schools.
Primary schools run a module referred to as ‘People Who Help Us’ and our PCSOs have been doing the circuit, providing the youngest members of our community with an age-appropriate insight into what we do.
This week also saw two notable court results released. The first for Ben Weston, who has been jailed for two years and eight months, for being concerned in the supply of cocaine and cannabis. The second for Leroy Harding, who was jailed for 16 months for dangerous driving, failing to stop and driving whilst disqualified. Harding led officers from Op Fortitude on a pursuit around the town centre.
We’ve heard some anecdotal mention of issues in the skate park again. Some of the concern seems to have been allayed quite quickly, but there has been mention of generalised issues, which may not have been reported.
We’re seeing much, much lower reporting of any problems in the area of the skate park, than at any point in the last three years. We’ve also worked with the town council, who have provided CCTV and additional lighting, with a further scheme of lighting improvement works planned. Lots has been done, but we’d be keen to know if further work would be of benefit.
If people are experiencing any problems however, please be sure to report them via 101, or speak to one of the team who patrol the park regularly. We want to keep the KGV area as a safe space for all to use, especially given the level of investment that’s gone into the skate park.
