MELKSHAM Post Office has won the Top Performer Award in the ‘Travel’ category at the Post Office Awards held last month.
The branch, which is one of only two Crown Post Offices left in Wiltshire, was recognised for the travel products it provides to the community including travel insurance and currency.
The branch’s performance is measured on customer feedback using a scorecard to make sure all targets are being hit. The branch was the only one in the country to receive a maximum score of 100.
Branch manager, Vanessa Fiorelli said, “Myself and our travel expert, Mandy Rumble, attended the evening and it was fantastic. We were initially shortlisted for the award out of 300 other branches and then made it to the final six, and then overall winners!
“To be recognised as the top performer out of the 11,500 Post Office branches in the country is brilliant, as we are just a drop in the ocean really.
“Here at Melksham Post Office, we strive to provide the best possible service for the community with the resources we have. We try to maintain the vital services that we offer, for instance the passport and driving licence form checking, because a lot of Post Offices don’t do it any more.
“All we ask is for the local community to continue to support us. We are busier than ever which is fantastic, and we hope to stay that way because we believe how important having a local Post Office is to a lot of people and it should be at the heart of the community.
“We help with a lot of things that aren’t related to the Post Office; an elderly person might come in to see us with a letter they’ve received from a company they don’t recognise. We will have a look at it for them and it just so happens it’s a scam. We want to help people as much as we can.
“We’ve worked really hard to maintain the branch. A few years ago we were on the list to be franchised but we managed to get off the list and show that we could be successful. This very rarely happens and we are very proud.
“Thank you for the support of the local community and keep coming in to see us – we here to help.”
