Melksham pupils perform at the O2

A GROUP of 25 children plus staff from Aloeric School performed at the O2 in London as part of the UK’s largest children’s choir. 

The school’s choir made the journey to one of the most famous venues in the UK to perform at the Young Voices concert at the O2 Arena alongside 8,000 other children. Young Voices involves thousands of children coming together to raise money for Save the Children.

For this concert, the choir learned an Andrew Lloyd Webber medley, songs from West End musicals, a set of African songs to pay tribute to Nelson Mandela, and a pop medley of chart topping songs.

As a special treat, the pupils were joined on stage by singers Mic Lowry and Lucy Spraggan.

The Aloeric Choir had been rehearsing for months and enjoyed the occasion. Ruth Gould, a teacher at the school said, “They performed wonderfully and we are proud of them all. They worked hard to learn all the words beforehand. The children could not believe the size of  02 Arena and how fantastic it was to sing in a choir of 8,000 plus!
