THE Melksham branch of the Royal Air Forces Association raised £411 for the Wings Appeal at a Battle of Britain evening last month.
Secretary of Melksham RAFA, Tony Horton said, “Dougie Campbell and Trish MacGregor hosted a Battle of Britain evening full of entertainment to help raise funds for Melksham RAFA Wings Appeal.
“A huge thanks to The Bell, Rusty Stag, Townsend Motors, Church Farm Meats, Broughton Gifford Cricket Club, Wiltshire Farming and the Sultan Indian Restaurant for their donations to the raffle and the food for the evening meal. Also, thank you to all the re-enactors for their support.
“Another thank you to branch member and entertainer Ricky Hunter who played all the songs from the 1940s. Ricky has donated £2.50 from each CD that he has sold, raising £103 so far.
“A good night was had by all who attended and we raised a grand total of £411.”
The Wings Appeal is the RAF Association’s on-going fundraising campaign that runs throughout the year. It is the fundraising arm of the association and helps raise the vital funds needed to support serving and ex-RAF personnel and their families.
