A second community tree planting day is being held in Melksham this month.
The local community group Melksham Green Space is inviting residents to join them at Clackers Brook on Sunday 22nd February.
“Volunteers are welcome to help plant trees and shrubs and be part of establishing a new woodland and wildlife habitat in the heart of Melksham,” said Nigel Benham, Chair of Melksham Green Space.
“Join us at the Water Meadow Car Park at 10.30am; Bring your spade and wellies, everyone is welcome!”
This is the second tree planting event following the successful first one in November when over 400 trees were planted. The group are creating a new woodland which will stretch from Ruskin Avenue, near King George V Park, to the Eastern Bypass, transforming an area of open land into a thriving habitat for wildlife.
“We want this to be something the whole community can be proud of,” added Nigel. “By planting these trees together, we’re not only creating a woodland for people to enjoy but helping to protect and restore local nature for future generations.”
Volunteers are asked to meet at the Water Meadow pub at 10.30am on Sunday 22nd February, bringing suitable footwear, gloves and spades. For more details, visit the Melksham Green Space Facebook page. All children must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or carer at all times.
