THE Scouts will deliver festive cheer in Melksham this Christmas, delivering your Christmas cards and greetings around town.
The Scouts’ Christmas post service will deliver your festive cards to any address within the Melksham, Bowerhill or Berryfield areas and all you are asked to do is donate 25p per card – that is £1 cheaper than a first-class stamp!
It follows the success of previous years with last year, over 1,000 cards being posted.
All you have to do is write the address, clearly, on the envelope and drop it into one of the special post boxes that are in shops all across the town. If you are not sure of the address, please write a return address on the reverse. Commercial post is not accepted. The last posting date is Thursday 14th December.
You can find a Scouts’ postbox at the following Melksham locations: Tops Hair Salon & Beauty, 5 High Street; Scissors Hair Salon, 2A Churchill Avenue; Tourist Information Centre, Church Street; The Melksham Card & News Centre, 4 Lowbourne; The Cobbler’s Bench, 18 Bath Road; Harmony Charity Shop, 24 High Street.
Group scout leader, Claire Neal, said, “The children love delivering the post and we always have lovely comments from people when they’ve received their post. It’s brilliant for the community and also helps the elderly who can’t perhaps get around to post their own Christmas greetings.”
