Melksham Scouts once again took part in a real-time game of Monopoly across London, practising their navigation, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
The annual Monopoly Run saw 1st Bowerhill Scouts enter three teams into the game alongside 9,000 scouts and guides from across the country and Europe this month.
During the game, teams use the Monopoly Run app to check into locations. They also have the opportunity to earn extra Monopoly money by taking part in team challenges and a cryptic quiz.
1st Bowerhill Scout Leader Neal Brookes said, “We all had a great day. We physically have to play the game in real time, visiting properties and stations like in the game.
“If you check in first and buy property, then anyone checking in will have to pay rent. It was a long day with lots of walking and running around locations. We could only use the Tube and buses. We were not allowed to use taxis.”
Monopoly Run Live started in 2007. It initially began as an event for Explorer Scouts before being extended to include all Scout groups. This year’s event was the 40th Monopoly Run.
