MELKSHAM singing sensation Courtney Buchanan missed out on national glory at the O2 Arena but was happy with her performance in the Teenstar finals.
The Melksham Oak pupil is well-known locally, performing at many of the area’s music venues including at last Saturday’s Party in the Park.
The O2 performance was her first experience of a major arena as she performed ‘Safe and Sound’ by Taylor Swift in the Teenstar finals. She had beat off the opposition in regional finals to make the grand final and perform in front of hundreds of spectators. Courtney said, “It was amazing, a once-in-a-lifetime chance and was so much to take in.
“It was a new experience being somewhere like the O2, lots more people and the pressure of being judged was new as well. It went really well and I enjoyed myself, which was the thing everyone told me to do.
“Going into the final I knew I wasn’t going to win but I was just happy that I had got that far, it was just an experience. All of my friends and family came and wore tee-shirts with my face on them and were cheering so much when I was performing which was nice. The whole experience has made me more confident for future gigs.”
Courtney is currently working on a new album which is nearly complete.
