TWO clubs from Melksham have been nominated for the Wiltshire and Swindon Sports Awards in the ‘most innovative club of the year’ category.
Junior Avon Valley Running Club and Wiltshire Martial Arts, both based in Melksham, have been nominated for the category, along with Swindon Shin Splints running club.
The winner will be announced in Trowbridge at an event on Tuesday 24th September.
The shortlisted nominees from each category have been invited to attend the event which will be hosted by former England rugby captain, Phil de Glanville and attended by special guest speaker, 11 times Gold Paralympic swimmer David Roberts CBE.
It will be held at County Hall, and jointly hosted by Wiltshire Council, Wiltshire Health Improvement Partnership, NHS, Swindon Borough Council and Wiltshire and Swindon Sports Partnership. Jonathan Seed, Wiltshire Council’s cabinet member for leisure said, “These awards showcase the exceptional talent and hard work of athletes and the dedication of sports clubs, volunteers and coaches across the county.
I congratulate all of those who have been shortlisted and look forward to seeing them on September 24th and hearing about everyone’s achievements.”
