A 15-year-old from Melksham has raised nearly £1,500 towards a conservation expedition to Borneo after more than 100 people attended his fundraising night.
Ruben Hilbert, who attends Melksham Oak School, organised a quiz and entertainment evening at Melksham Cons Club on Saturday 3rd October.
The funds will help towards his four-week trip to Borneo for conservation and community projects with Camps International after his GCSE exams.
The event raised £1,491.50 through a range of activities, including an orangutan naming fundraiser, a heads or tails game and a charity raffle featuring prizes donated by local businesses.
Ruben said, “Thank you to everyone who came to my fundraising quiz! A great amount was raised and this will help get me to Borneo! We really appreciated the raffle prizes donated by local businesses and friends. Everybody joined in with the quiz and other activities, having fun and raising money.”
