A Melksham teenager made his international debut for the England Under-18s bowls team last month, competing in the British Isles International Series held in Ayr, Scotland.
17-year-old Alfie Holland, who plays for Avon Bowls Club, earned his first cap for England and was selected as skip in the triples discipline. He helped steer his team to two victories out of three matches, with the only loss by a single point.
Alfie also played in three additional triples games across the weekend, winning all three. His performances contributed to England’s overall success, as the Under-18s squad secured the Gold medal, finishing ahead of Scotland, Ireland and Wales.
Coaches and team officials praised Alfie’s consistency and composure during the competition, describing his debut as highly promising.
The British Isles International Series features the top Under-18 bowlers from across the UK and Ireland, and is considered a key stepping-stone for future senior internationals.
