MELKSHAM is soon to welcome the café bar Grounded to its high street.
Grounded is a small independent chain, with branches in carefully selected locations in Bristol, which is expanding further into Wiltshire this year.
By day, the café bar will serve fair-trade coffee, homemade lunch specials and focaccia sandwiches. In the evening, authentic stone-baked pizzas, handmade burgers and seasonal specials are on offer, as well as a range of locally-brewed beer and cider. Kids are particularly well catered for at Grounded, with freshly-made, healthy options to choose from.
A spokesperson for Grounded said, “We are really looking forward to becoming a central part of the vibrant Melksham community. We will be showcasing a range of local artwork on our walls, and will be welcoming local musicians to play at our monthly acoustic music nights.”
Work is progressing well on the conversion of the building at number 28, High Street. The building has housed a café for 56 years, with many local residents sharing their memories of the different businesses that have inhabited the space.
Antique floorboards, reclaimed furniture and vintage sofas will add character to the interior, giving a relaxed, informal feel. Original stonework has been revealed during the conversion, which will be left exposed to allude to the history of the building.
