MELKSHAM & District Historical Association’s President, Tony Fivash launched the group’s return with a presentation of Today & Yesterday, selecting areas or buildings and tracing back the changes that have taken place over the years.
On behalf of the group Cathy Berry said, “We had been concerned as to how many members would support us so were overwhelmed to welcome over 60 members and visitors.
“We experienced the usual technical problems with the microphones and the pictures were not quite up to our usual high standard but like us, the Assembly Hall staff are still feeling their way after such a long period of shut-down.
“We expect all will be sorted before our next event when Gill Butler will be reminiscing her childhood strolls round the town on a Sunday afternoon with her mother. It’s on Thursday 21st October at Melksham Assembly Hall at 7.30 pm (visitors £1).
“Viv Dwyer, our treasurer, will again be taking names for those wishing to attend the AGM in November – we already have over 30 so really feel we are on the way back to some sort of normality.
“Thank you everyone for your support and we look forward to seeing you next month.”
