Melksham Town Ladies FC will compete in the League Cup Final this Sunday 12th April, their first appearance in a cup final in eight years.
They will face Abbey Meads Ladies from Swindon at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground in Royal Wootton Bassett (SN4 8DS) with a 2pm kick-off.
“This final represents a huge milestone for the team and the wider women’s game in Melksham,” said Manager Adam Mulliss.
“This is a massive moment for the team, and your support can make all the difference. Come along, get behind the girls, and help create an atmosphere they deserve. Get yourselves down next Sunday and be part of something special!
“We’ve had a really strong run to the final, picking up impressive victories over Westbury, Chippenham and Keynsham along the way. The standout moment for us was definitely the win against Chippenham, where we fielded our youngest squad of the season.
“It really highlighted the strength of our pathway, with so many of the players having come through the youth setup together and built strong relationships over the years. That togetherness has been a huge factor in getting us to this stage.
“Winning the cup would be a huge moment not just for the players, but for everyone involved in the club – from coaches and volunteers to the families who have supported them over the years.
“It would show what’s possible when you invest in developing local talent and give young players a clear pathway into senior football.
“We’re in a really strong position as a club. Melksham Town has the setup and infrastructure to allow for real progression in the women’s game, and that’s something we’re keen to build on. In the short term, we’ll look to strengthen the squad over the summer, but the long-term goal is clear – to keep developing, compete for silverware, and climb the women’s league pyramid. This final is just the start of what we believe this group can achieve.
“Our partnership with Her Game Too is a big part of that – standing together to tackle sexism in football and making sure the game is inclusive and welcoming for everyone.”
Admission for the match is £5 with the money being donated to Breast Cancer Research.
