MELKSHAM Town Football Club will host a special match at Oakfields to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Toolstation Western League.
A Western League representative team, made up of players from the Premier and First Division of the Toolstation Western League, picked and managed by Melksham Town chair Darren Perrin, will kick off against the England C Team, who represent England at non-league level, on Wednesday 11th October at 7.45pm.
“We are immensely proud to be hosting the game to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the third longest-running league in the country, the Toolstation Western League,” said Darren.
“We will be very proud to show off our stadium to people across the country and we are hoping that our brand new electronic scoreboard will be ready to use for the match, another reason to proud of our fantastic facilities.
“I feel honoured to have been asked to manage the Western League Representative Team who will play against The England C team.
“It was very difficult to select the team and make sure that I chose as many players as possible to represent the 38 teams in the Premier and First Divisions.
“I now have a squad of 18 players. Included in the team are three players from Melksham Town; Warren Maidment, Mike Perrott and Dan Demkiv.
“We are anticipating a very good crowd for this game and I am sure that it will be a very competitive and entertaining game. The FA will be attending, as well as representatives from the Western League and I’m pretty sure there will be football scouts on the look out for some fresh new talent.”
Ticket prices have been set by the Western League and will cost £3 for adults, £1 for OAPS and children go free.
